News Summer
is trying to find its way to us at last, although with the cold
weather affecting the grass growth, many customers are
complaining that their fields aren’t looking as green as they
usually are at this time of year. For many horse owners the lack
of grass is a blessing as the spring grass is a major
contributor to laminitis. We had an excellent talk at Nottingham
Trent University (Brackenhurst Campus) in March on the dangers
of laminitis and how to prevent and treat it. We had Rachel
Sainsbury from Dodson and Horrell who did an excellent job of
explaining laminitis and offering advice from a feeding point of
view and also Vet Holly Applewhite from Minster Veterinary and
Farrier Callum Grant who both gave excellent talks from their
perspectives. It was an interesting night and allowed guests a
rare opportunity to get a vet, farrier and feed specialist
together to discuss this illness. (See below for laminitis
related May/June feed offers.)
